Curating an exhibition
A new gallery is opening in Publika and the manager has
asked you to curate a small exhibition of no more than 6 exhibits of work by
one or more of your chosen artists/designers.
As curator you are responsible for selecting the exhibits
and choosing a title for the exhibition.
You are also required to write an introduction of no more than 600 words
for publication in the catalogue. This
should explain the project and introduce the artist/designer and their work to
gallery visitors and art critics. It is
important that you consider the relevance of aesthetics and contextual
significance in your introduction.
You are to present and justify your proposal for your
exhibition using a presentation format of your choice however you will be
expected to give a short speech conveying the main points of your
introduction.
The presentations will take place next Friday (5th
July periods 1/2). You will be expected
to hand in or make available your presentation in an appropriate format.
