Find 2 inspirational collages/artworks to later help you with your 'Me, Myself and I' border.
Key search terms could be-
Illustration, collage, montage, photomontage, mixed media or take a look at artworks.  Look in www.booooooom.com or http://www.booooooom.com/tag/collage/ website or do other suitable searches.

Write about your found artworks. Try to cover the points below-
  • What is the artwork about (is there narrative)?
  • Why do you like the chosen artwork? 
  • What materials have been used?
  • How do these materials contribute to the artworks?
  • Describe how the artist used the following visual elements?
Colour - Tone - Line - Texture Pattern - Scale - Proportion
Composition (perspective - space - depth - balance)
  • Also mention how you could translate this artwork later on into your own 'Me, myself and I' collage?

Create an A4 page of investigative research into the recent air pollution situation in KL. 
What are the reasons, sources and the effects on the city.

Create an A4 poster as a public notice warning people of the effects of the air pollution.
The poster must include the following...

  • your own photos (taken by you) illustrating the air pollution.
  • explanation of the hazard (evidence of your research)

Year 9 I-Me-Mine project homework

1.    COLLAGE HOMEWORK- Independent project Collage

1. Introduce the concept of I, Me, Mine using the Tate website. Students should understand how the theme is an inspiration for many artists in self-expression. http://collectives.tate.org.uk/content/i-me-mine
Students are to pick 2 artworks (that they like) from the website and create a research page in their sketchbooks.

2. Pick 2 collages that you like from the link below and analyse the pieces yourself: http://www.booooooom.com/tag/collage/

- Why do you like the chosen artworks?
- What materials have been used to create the collages
- Why do you think the artist used these materials?
- How do these materials contribute to the artworks?
- Describe how has the artist used the following visual elements?

3. Create a mood board page in your sketch book based on different types of materials you think will be ideal for you own collage on I, Me, Mine.
Explain your choices of materials.

4. Create 3 design ideas for your own collage based on the theme I, Me Mine each idea covering one whole A4 page. On the adjacent page explain your design. (next lesson will involve 1-1 teacher discussion on your design ideas)

5. Create your final A4 collage to be used as a background. This will be photocopied so you can print on to it for your final outcome.

·      By now you should be at ‘Step 5’.
·      Please ensure all of this work is complete, printed and ready to hand in at the start of your next lesson.

2. Your study page should consist of the following…
·      One A4 page including a title and your name
·      An observational drawing of the chosen Expressionist print using a black biro. The drawing should measure at least 13cm X 13cm.
·      Brief but relevant analysis of the chosen artwork that has been written by you…

·      ‘focus on their expressive use of mark making to represent emotion in the portraits and create a narrative in the artwork’

·      Learning Intention
·      It is essential you observe and replicate the expressive mark making style in the artwork. It is this approach that we want to apply to your own lino cut portraits that you will be completing over the next 2 weeks.
